Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus

drj.jpg (5932 bytes)AS TABC director since 1980, Julian Ackerley's ongoing efforts on behalf of the Chorus have generated positive national and international attention.  The Chorus flourishes under his direction due to his rare combination of exceptional artistic skills and comprehensive administrative abilities.

A graduate of  the University of Arizona, Dr. Ackerley earned Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees with major training in music education, choral conducting and voice performance from the University of Arizona School of Music.   His many successes include national and international tours, plus many critically acclaimed recording, including the most recent CD of all-classical music, Heaven Hath a Song.

Balanced with work on his degrees, Dr. Ackerley taught General and Vocal Music in the Sahuarita and Tucson Unified School Districts as well as served as Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Arizona. He also took on the position of Director of Music at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, a role he continues to fulfill.

Dr. Ackerley's professional affiliations include: American Choral Directors Association, Arizona Music Educators Association, Association of College, University and Community Arts Administrators, Music Educators National Conference, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (music honorary) and Western Alliance of Arts Administrators.

He and his wife, Jane, have two children; Joseph, alumnus of the Chorus, and a daughter, Jennifer.
