The old saying,
"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" is certainly true with choirboys.
In addition to
their intensive musical training, choirboys are encouraged to participate in recreational
activities any other boy would enjoy.
Recreational
activities at choir camps provide the necessary physical exercise needed by growing boys.
Physical activity
allows the choirboy to work off his excess energy in constructive ways. Then, when
rehearsal time arrives he is ready to give his undivided attention to the task at hand.
The competitive
spirit so natural in young boys is worked out on the playing fields thereby allowing the
choirboy to work in a cooperative atmosphere within the choir.
Work and play
together make for a balanced individual.
